Day 60-Cabrillo counselor

Today’s first for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was an express meeting with a counselor at Cabrillo College in order to discuss potentially stepping on the physician’s assistant path ( which would require repeating several prerequisites that have expired since my undergrad, getting old ;)). It was a very enlightening 10 minutes.  Upon graduating from the  United States Naval Academy, “choice” was clear-cut and boiled down to a handful of options. Today I experienced what it would’ve been like to attend a civilian college where the sky is the limit with regard to choosing a path- my goodness! Exciting and overwhelming.  We are so lucky in this country,  so much opportunity.    I was however reminded of how important it is to stay focused on our truth.  To follow our heart and be sure the voice we are heeding is coming from within 😘

Day 59- play it again

Today’s first for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was to  go into a store that I drive by all the time, play it again sports.

“Play It Again Sports can help you trade your quality used sports and fitness equipment in for something new, used or for cash. To Get started:

Call your local Play It Again Sports location to find out the most asked for items.

Make sure your items are clean, in good condition and include all necessary parts.

Bring them to your local store for trade or payment on the spot.”

History:
Play It Again Sports is a chain of sporting goods stores selling new and gently used sporting goods franchised by Winmark. Minneapolis native Martha Morris started the store in 1983, soon growing to several stores.

Day 58- teeny tiny home

Today’s first for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was to scope out the frame of a tiny home being built.  (although according to Todd, the builder, this is technically a micro tiny home given it’s sq footage of 80 sq ft.. most tiny homes are a minimum of 120).  Once complete, Todd will have a free plot of land to live on in exchange for gardening.

Day 57- many hands

Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. Hummingbirds open our eyes to the wonder of the world and inspire us to open our hearts to loved ones and friends. Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and to savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer and to celebrate the joy of everyday. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation

‘Hummingbird on dragon flower’, was my favorite piece of art in the gallery..

today’s first for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was to check out many hands gallery in Capitola, CA.  Small, local art gallery.  Brooke (seen in pic below), is the manager .. as well as being an artist and landscape architect.

This Gallery has been showing some of the finest artwork locally produced for almost 20 years.

“We bring together the art and energy of many different artists all in one place. As you look around our gallery, you will find only the finest quality work in a large variety of media. We have a core group of artists that create a solid foundation, and a rotating number of artists that constantly bring new energy to our gallery.”

Day 55- lesson on ‘geoengineering’

Today’s first for the “One new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution came about unexpectedly  when I was walking into the good earth grocery store.   I noticed the man in this picture staring up at the sky for quite some time and asked him what he was looking at,  turns out he is a physicist and told me way more about climate engineering than I have read in the news.

All the matter you see in the sky is apparently aeresol release, which one can easily read about on the internet.  What Kevin claims (and believes we will read about in a year or so) is that they are actually up there “resource grabbing”. Hmm..

Day 54- Kiting (5m) with Kylo

https://youtu.be/7Fnrg1He6Ow

Today’s first was challenging, lots of kite for this little person! I had an awesome teach tho, always makes all the difference, only ate it once 🙂  today’s first was to fly Ky’s 5 meter kite, I have flown his small one, 2.5 meters, once before..

Super impressed by his new tricks, back flips, front flips, triple twist.. supah man my goodness.

I learned more about the power zone and controlling the kite on the descent. Fun times, these are the minutes to remember .. THANK YOU KYLO 🙏🏻

Day 53- Robot

Today’s first for the ‘one new thing a day for 100 days’ New Years resolution was visiting the office of Mayfield Robotics in Redwood City.  I happened to be staffed there for a corporate massage gig, never anticipated I’d luck out and receive a live demo of Kuri (their bot). Definitely a first for me. Of course I will not say much as I respect their privacy and their NDA! What I will say is that they have a team of amazing engineers (brilliant and genuinely solid people). It is truly unreal what is being produced in Silicon Valley.

Day 52- diamonds in your own backyard

Today’s first for the “one new thing  A day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution, was an unplanned plan B.  I lucked out when I 180’d out of commuter traffic (me and sitting like a duck don’t do well together :)) while I was en route to plan A.. good thing I acted on impulse because I crossed paths with this lil’ gem while weaving my way through back streets.   Today’s first, was to borrow books from the little free library .

Day 51- RX Bar “no BS”

img_7394

Today’s first  for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was to purchase and consume an RX bar.  Personally, I’d much rather eat real food but in our go-go-go society these bars do often come in handy. As a health professional,  I give the RX bar a thumbs up for using natural ingredients and for a decent job on the building blocks. (When choosing a bar, protein should be at least half the amount of the bar’s carbohydrates. For instance, if the bar has 24 grams of carbohydrates, you would want it to have at least 12 grams of protein. RX passed the test, it was though a tad high in sugar .. right amount of fat 👍.  Ideally keep sugars below 7 grams and fat below 12.  Calories- 300+ if meal replacement, 200 max if snack)

At the end of the day, I probably would not buy this bar again because it was hard to chew and tasted like a fake brownie.  However, I sure did feel satiated a half an hour later which is a lot to be said for a protein bar.  Give it a go if you have yet to try !
