Today’s first for the “one new thing a day for 100 days” New Year’s resolution was to purchase and consume an RX bar. Personally, I’d much rather eat real food but in our go-go-go society these bars do often come in handy. As a health professional, I give the RX bar a thumbs up for using natural ingredients and for a decent job on the building blocks. (When choosing a bar, protein should be at least half the amount of the bar’s carbohydrates. For instance, if the bar has 24 grams of carbohydrates, you would want it to have at least 12 grams of protein. RX passed the test, it was though a tad high in sugar .. right amount of fat 👍. Ideally keep sugars below 7 grams and fat below 12. Calories- 300+ if meal replacement, 200 max if snack)
At the end of the day, I probably would not buy this bar again because it was hard to chew and tasted like a fake brownie. However, I sure did feel satiated a half an hour later which is a lot to be said for a protein bar. Give it a go if you have yet to try !
