2017 is full of integration and magic!
I am grateful and fortunate to be a part of 3 amazing events…
1. DIO Fest April 28-30, 2017
Music, art, camping, stoke… in support of music enrichment for special needs…
Mission: let’s do it ourselves
Do It Ourselves is a grassroots event production company that creates unique experiences with music, art, and community – treating each event as an experience that elevates expression, honors the power of collaboration, and brings people together… always with a good cause in mind. Drawing from our homegrown network of talent, we bring in a curated cast of artists and do’ers who always leave the audience buzzing
A core part of the Do It Ourselves mission is to benefit worthy causes and organizations. Our first endeavor was to use a portion of our proceeds help create a music enrichment program at Camp Krem (the special needs summer camp where we hold DIO Fest each year). As we continue to grow and develop the Do It Ourselves community, we look forward to continuing to support such causes.
2. NO BARRIERS SUMMIT – JUNE 1-4 – LAKE TAHOE, CA
At the 4-day No Barriers Summit, we envision a world where the power of the human spirit transcends barriers. At The Summit you will be surrounded by community that knows What’s Within You Is Stronger Than What’s In Your Way. Choose to embark on over 40 adaptive activities, be motivated by phenomenal speakers and inspired by innovative technologies and products that are breaking barriers. This family-friendly event is for people of all ages and abilities. Regardless of your ability, you will leave forever changed.
I am super stoked to be an activity provider at the Summit!
3. 1440 Multiversity – Get Outdoors Retreat Sep 17-22
I’m very excited to be co-leading a Yoga and Stand Up Paddleboard retreat this fall at an amazing new facility in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Details:
Experience the earth, sky, and ocean as your classroom. Allow nature to undo the stresses of a modern lifestyle as you move across the refreshing blue waters of Santa Cruz coves on a stand-up paddle board (SUP) and hike on beautiful trails among towering redwoods.
This unique outdoor workshop combines yoga with both SUP and hiking, waking up your senses and inviting mind-clutter to disappear.
Out on the water, we begin SUP with basic strokes and lower-to-the-board yoga postures. Session-by-session, you will progress to intermediate postures, according to your comfort level.
In the afternoons, we transition into the woods for a hiking and yoga practice, with a grounded sequence to deepen into awakened presence.
You will learn and experience:
- SUP strokes and maneuvers in the water
- Safe and expansive SUP yoga postures on a paddleboard
- Adjustments and modifications of SUP yoga
- American Canoe Association Level 1/2 SUP skills
- An outdoor yoga sequence you can effortlessly transport with you on your own hikes
- Restorative Yoga
- A body-mind immersion in nature for attunement, balance, and calm.
Enjoy a renewed connection with the natural world guided by this dynamic duo—Julia Roach, one of the early pioneers of SUP yoga, and Kate Clemens, local Bay area outdoor guide, yoga instructor, and holistic coach.
Group discussions about integrating these practices into your life will support a lasting shift in your relationship to nature and your personal practice.
